Tazewell Savings & Loan Association (1964)
The Tazewell Savings and Loan Association was incorporated in August 1919 as Tazewell Building, Loan and Homestead Association. According to a sketch of the proposed building, the designer was Creed and the illustrator was Mackinaw. The sketch depicts a two story structure with a first floor of butted glass possibly mixed with marble panels in sections and a recessed glass entry at the corner. The second story overhangs the recessed entry and in comparison to other building by the company, is ornamented displaying externally-expressed vertical steel beams between every bay in the fenestration and panels above and below each window with two vertical rectangles. An L-shaped sign protrudes front the second story at the corner above the recessed entryway. The signature block on front of the sketch dates it as 1964, but the date stamp on the back dates it as September 6, 1963. It is unknown whether this building was ever constructed.
